Scientific Games launches Michigan sportsbook via FireKeepers Casino

The FireKeepers Casino of Michigan now offers sports betting thanks to a deal with Scie 7BALL ntific Games. The casino is owned and operated by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi. FireKeepers looks to add to their new retail offering by expanding to digital sports and online gambling once Michigan allows for the iGaming options to begin.

Retail Sports Betting at FireKeepers:

With this latest launch, FireKeepers is using the OpenSports product suite of Scientific Games. The suite is offered at Dacey’s Sportsbook which opened up two months ago. Players who visit the sportsbook will find hundreds of markets for betting in the US as well as international options. This launch marks the first time that a tribal operator in Michigan will offer sports betting services.

FireKeepers Chief Executive Officer Kathy George commented on the new launch by stating: “These are exciting times for FireKeepers Casino and launching our retail sportsbook is the realization of a major strategic objective. The team at Scientific has been integral to delivering this fantastic new offering for bettors in Michigan. We keenly await the opportunity take both our sports and our casino online with their player-centric technology and global expertise.”

Moving on to Online Options:

Michigan is one state in the US that passed a bill where online casino and sports betting were approved. The new industry has not launched yet, but FireKeepers has plans to be involved. They will work with Scientific Games and use the company’s OpenGaming and OpenSports products to get started.

The two online gaming options were approved in December 2019 and 2020 has been used as a time for the state to set up regulations as well as prepare for licensing and the eventual launch of the new industry. It may be 2021 before we see the state go live online.
